London’s Prettiest Hidden Cherry Blossom Spots

1. Mount Street Gardens, Mayfair‍

When in Mayfair, take a stroll away from the hustle and bustle down to Mount Street where you will find a petite public garden where the cherry blossoms are beautifully in bloom. With rows of benches placed along the path, this peaceful spot begs you to take a seat, breathe in the spring air, and marvel at the pink paradise that these Japanese trees create. Why not also take a peek at the Australian silver wattle trees and the hot pink camellias that also occupy this green space.

2. Swiss Cottage Open Space‍

To liven up their new outdoor space in the Swiss Cottage area of Hampstead in 2006, Gustafson Porter + Bowman planted large cherry blossom trees that now line the walking path, and can be seen dotted around the edge of the spacious green area outside of Hampstead Theatre. By planting both Prunus x yedoenis and Prunus x subhirtella trees, the landscapers created contrasting colours which injects beautiful pops of colour into this open industrial area. Take a stroll through this series of connected pathways underneath the blooms to appreciate the scene in all of its glory.

3. Primrose Hil

lKnown for its pretty streets and pastel-coloured houses, this quiet area of North London certainly gives Notting Hill a run for its money. Dotted around the area, wanderers will come across a number of cherry blossom trees that have bloomed just in time for spring. It may take a little bit of searching but it’ll be worth it when you spot those pink full blossoms around Chalcot Crescent, Chalcot Square, and St Mark’s Church. 4. Colebrooke Row Gardens, Islington‍

When April arrives, there is no better place to take an early afternoon stroll than Colebrooke Row Gardens, especially after a hearty brunch at Angel’s branch of The Breakfast Club. This long patch of greenery is lined with cherry blossom trees which are well-placed above park benches providing the perfect atmosphere for a serene afternoon of some outdoor reading or reflecting. You can even make your way down to the canal afterwards to continue this already aesthetically-pleasing stroll.

5. London Blossom Garden at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park‍

As a living memorial to symbolise the city’s experience of the Coronavirus pandemic, the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in East London welcomes guests to their blossom garden. The design of the space has been shaped by local communities to be a place of peace and serenity for all as well as a nature haven where wildlife can thrive. In the north area of the park, a whopping 33 blossom trees have been planted and are now in bloom ready to be experienced by city dwellers. The garden is located close to the Timber Lodge Cafe if you’re in need of a coffee to pick you up or even a delicious handmade sandwich.
