International Women’s Day Events in London

With International Women’s Day just around the corner, the world is getting ready to celebrate the iconic achievements of women all over the world and the historical icons that paved the way for the modern society that we live in today. Communities and venues across London are preparing for the big day with a variety of events; from three-day festivals and historic walking tours to full-blown ball pit parties, the city is ready for women to come together and celebrate a day dedicated to them, however they see fit.

Back and better than ever for its thirteenth instalment; the Women of the World Festival celebrates the achievements of women, girls, and non-binary people, as well as exploring the hurdles they faced and the odds that were pitted against them. A place where world-class female speakers, activists, musicians, and comedians can all be found in one room. The festival is running three days of a jam-packed line-up of unique events and holds space for important female-inclusive discussions. Grab a day ticket or the weekend pass to celebrate International Women's Day with pride.

2. Celebrate Women in Hospitality at the Pen

For another year, The Pem will be inviting guests to celebrate International Women's Day in style. The stunning Modern European restaurant situated in Westminster has collaborated with drinks company, Lillet to produce a series of panels and workshops for women in the hospitality industry. Why not come along to meet like-minded professionals and get stuck into their fruitful schedule. Included in the ticket price, visitors will also get to indulge in a three-course menu. The menu has been designed by chefs Sally Abé and Laetizia Keating and will come with a set of complementary wines.

Why not inject a little history into your International Women's Day this year by going on a walking tour? Women of London is a walking tour company highlighting the lives and history of incredible women in the capital. Throughout March, they're hosting a number of historical walks that showcase the most influential long-standing achievements of women. In celebration of International Women's Day, sultry bar The Courtesan are holding a special women's only event. The concept of the night revolves around the formidable La Contessa, an operatic soprano who will lead her audience through a night of theatre, cabaret, and incredible opera performed by some of the most talented women on the London cabaret circuit. The Courtesan boasts a women-led bar, so be sure to grab a delicious cocktail from one of their amazing bartenders. Dim sum is also available to order if you want something to nibble on throughout the night.

Ballie Ballerson - in case you didn’t already know - is Shoreditch’s funky ball pit bar. For this year's International Women’s Day, they are inviting the girls (and even the guys) to celebrate at their vibrant playful venue. Grab your group of besties and drop by to dance to music spun by female DJs, ranging from party classics to hip hop wonders. Since the gender pay gap sits at 8%, Ballerson are offering women an 8% discount on cocktails and the cloakroom throughout the night - now this is the time to bag yourself a bargain in honour of the ladies.
