Jack & Boule: London’s Brand-New Boule Pop-Up in Southbank

Southbank’s new pop-up is offering Londoner’s a taste of sunshine with their outdoor boule venue, featuring eight sand-filled lanes for up to 55-minutes of competitive fun. Unsure of what the game entails? The concept is pretty easy; two teams (of around 2-6 players each) need to throw the jack down the lane, while everyone else aims to chuck their boule as close to the jack as possible - or savagely knock their opponents boule out of the way. The team closest to the jack wins the point, while the first team to win 13 points wins overall. 

Of course no game of boules is complete without some satisfying street food, with three of the city’s hottest food stalls available courtside. You can tuck into Nanny Bill’s famous hand-pressed Burgers topped with American cheese, burger sauce, and lashings of gravy (with a side of Aggy Loaded Fries or slow-cooked Beef Brisket Croquettes), enjoy an authentic Lebanese Falafel Wrap from Lil’Watan, or go all out with the Ultimate Mama Rico Burrito filled with cilantro rice, black beans, lettuce, sour cream, pico de gallo, cheddar cheese, and your choice of three fillings from Rico Burrito. 

Drinks-wise, you can celebrate your boules win or drown your sorrows with Siren's craft beer or curated cocktails. Cocktail specials range from an Aloha Colada (Spirit of Aloha, pineapple, and coconut in slushie form), Watermelon Picante (tequila, watermelon, and red chillies), and a frozen Peachy Please (Bulleit Bourbon, peach purée, and ginger and lemon).
