1. Hampton Court Palace Ice Rink
Wrap up in your cosiest garms and get your pals together, because Hampton Court Palace is opening the King of all ice rinks on the 17th November. Set in front of Henry VII’s sixteenth-century home, you’ll get the chance to skate across a large 1,040-square-metre rink against an equally-as-impressive backdrop - especially when lit up after dark. If some of that royal grandeur has brushed off on you, then be sure to indulge in a loaded hot chocolate, mulled wine, or mince pie at the Ice Rink Café & Bar after your skating session too.

2. Queen's House Ice Rink
What if we told you you can ice skate in front of a UNESCO World Heritage Site? That’s right, Greenwich’s infamous ice rink is making a grand return just in time for the holidays - and it’s surrounded by some of the neighbourhood’s architectural wonders. Glide, twirl, and skate to beautiful views of Greenwich Park and the glittering lights of Canary Wharf, and considering it’ll be smack bang in front of the Queen's House, you’ll get a pretty sweet view of that too. Bookings are now open, so be sure to arrange a magical date for you and your loved ones this season!
FYI: Love the idea of ice skating, but prone to stage fright? No sweat. The rink offers relaxed sessions free from large crowds, so you can skate or cling to the edge in peace. Time slots are available on certain dates only.

Although snowfall is a rarity in the city, Glide at Battersea Power Station has everything you need to make you feel like you’re skating through a winter wonderland. Head over to this dazzling rink and prepare for a 30ft Christmas tree to rock around, as well as vintage fairground rides, private igloos for hire, and their Glasshouse Bar selling festive drinks that’ll make you feel merry and bright. For the ultimate date night or day trip with your pals, this picturesque activity is the perfect shout.

4. Canary Wharf Ice Rink
Canary Wharf’s ice rink is back in business, and this year you can skate under a dazzling disco ball whilst festive tunes drift through the air. Come rain or shine, this covered 1,200-square-metre arena is perfect for everyone with time slots for children, adults, and wheelchair users, as well as themed DJ nights on special dates. Skaters and spectators looking for a post-ice warmer can get cosy in the nearby Alpine-themed bar ‘Off Piste’ which offers some pretty sweet views of the rink below.

5. Skylight, Tobacco Dock
What if we told you you can ice skate high in the sky? Skylight’s rink atop an old car park in Tobacco Dock is now open, and it has a little something for everyone. Whether the ice feels like a second language or you’re in need of a penguin, you’ll be greeted with sensational views of the Shard and the Gherkin as your gliding backdrop. If you’re looking for some post skating antics, then explore their other winter attractions including cosy, heated igloos decked out with fluffy blankets and giant Jenga blocks. Of course no ice skating session is complete without a mulled wine to over-indulge in - ‘tis the season, after all.

6. Skate at Somerset House
Ice skates? Check. 40ft Christmas tree? Check. Splendid views of the legendary Somerset House? Big ol’ check. Somerset House’s ice rink is back with more lively sessions than ever, including the grand return of their Skate Lates. By day, skaters can soak in the merry atmosphere and drop by the Whispering Angel’s Skate Lounge to sip on a posh glass of Provence Rosé. By night, they’ll have the chance to show off some Olympic-style twirls, shapes, and moves as London’s latest and greatest DJs take over the decks, including Girls Can’t DJ, Deptford Northern Soul Club, DAYTIMERS, and more.

7. Alexandra Palace Ice Rink
We all know Ally Pally is no stranger to putting on a party, and this season their year-round ice rink will come alive with Christmas Ice Discos and lots of merry shenanigans. Take to the ice and rock around their huge Christmas tree, bask in the falling snow, whiz along to festive classics, and shine in the spotlight, sorry, dazzling lights. If you’re feeling extra indulgent, then a mince pie and Baileys hot chocolate is only an order away too.
